Urban and Architectural Formation of historic Banská Štiavnica, Banská Štiavnica in Renaissance Period II

This year, the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Slovak University of Technology and UNESCO Chair at the Slovak University of Technology (UNESCO Chair for Restoration of Architectural Heritage) are jointly following up on the previous 12 editions of the multidisciplinary workshop for students – the Autumn University of Architecture. It is an international multidisciplinary students ́ workshop with the aim of recognizing, documenting, presenting and interpreting historical architecture with a particular focus on fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among relevant scientific disciplines, preserving cultural heritage, and maintaining architectural and urban identity.
This year, the workshop is open to students of architecture and design, urban planning, archeology and art history, archival studies, civil engineering and geodesy, design and art exhibitions. The content of the workshop is composed of two parts: a theoretical-scientific colloquium on the topic; practical – research and documentation in the historical center of Banská Štiavnica, a World Heritage Site.
The theme of the event is field and archival research in Banská Štiavnica, focused on the development of urban planning and architecture from the Romanesque period to the modern era. The scientific colloquium, which will provide workshop participants with a theoretical background, will be provided by renowned lecturers from Slovakia and abroad. Successful completion of the workshop can be evaluated as „Summer School“ and workshop and participants will be eligible to receive study credits. Event location: Educational and Scientific Research Center in Banská Štiavnica, remote workplace of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Slovak University of Technology.
